The Birth of Colson - Lake Charles Memorial Hospital For Woman.

Brittney reached out to me about photographing her birth story, and it was immediately evident how important it was to not only capture her son's arrival, but also to have tangible memories of the love between her and her boyfriend Ted.

When I met Brittney and Ted....I knew two things: there birth would be beautiful and it would be brimming with love. They were so open, so excited, so ready to meet their baby boy Colson.

Brittney have had a very high risk pregnancy and got induce on September 25th 2018, 3 weeks before her due date. I anticipated joining her in the morning and maybe having a baby by the afternoon. But Brittney progressed quicker than any of us could have imagined, and by the time I arrived at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for woman, she was already ready to push. A team of nurses rushed to get her ready for her doctor when baby Colson couldn’t wait any longer and made his arrival weighing 5lb 7oz and 18.5 inches. She pushed her baby out with only a few strong contractions. What an AMAZING team of nurses at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, they were able to take care of mom and baby right away with no issues until her doctor arrived a few minutes after giving birth.

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Woman provided Brittney and her family with wonderful care during her labor and postpartum. They encourage an hour of uninterrupted bonding time so Baby Colson got to nurse right away and stay on Brittney's chest for as long as he wanted. It was a beautiful birth with a beautiful family...and I'm so glad they invited me into their space to photograph their story.
